Abstract
Objectives: This study aimed to identify the current level of awareness of the carcinogenicity of alcohol among Korean citizens and to identify the relationship between carcinogenicity awareness and support for alcohol control policies.
Methods: An online survey was conducted using a structured questionnaire among 7,000 adult men and women aged 20-69 in Korea, and crosstabulation and logistic regression were used to analyze the results.

Results: Of the 7,000 men and women surveyed nationwide, 33.6 percent knew that alcohol was a carcinogen and 66.4 percent did not know. Those who knew about the carcinogenicity of alcohol were 2.17 times more likely to support regulation than those who did not, and those who perceived that ¡°even one or two drinks are harmful to health¡± were 2.27 times more likely to support regulation than those who thought that ¡°one or two drinks are beneficial to health.¡±

Conclusion: These results are in line with previous studies that have shown that higher awareness of the carcinogenicity of alcohol is associated with higher support for alcohol control policies, suggesting that various efforts to raise awareness of the carcinogenicity of alcohol are needed.
